Leadership is a team sport

Everyone of us should read Darzi’s report, identify the area with which we wish to effect change and start the conversation in our Trusts and networks.

At the inaugural SLIM (Surgical Leaders in Management) meeting last week, attended by a group of clinician managers and Chris Whitty, we learned that leadership is a team sport. We learned that purpose and autonomy are essential to effect system change.

It is our NHS, it trained many of us, developed most of us professionally and now it requires our help. Darzi has made the diagnosis, all surgeons need to help effect the treatment.
