The President-Elect will work closely with the President and Executive Board to support delivery of ASGBI’s strategic aims and objectives, helping to shape the future direction of the Association and ensure continuity of leadership. The role includes engagement with national surgical stakeholders, contribution to congress and educational programming, support of key ASGBI committees and networks, and representation of ASGBI across the wider surgical community. Eligibility: Applicants must be current ASGBI members in NHS consultant practice and have previously served as a voting ASGBI Council member within the four years preceding the closing date of the membership vote (Friday 17th July 2026). Applicants must also be willing and eligible to act as a Director of a limited company and must not currently hold the position of President or President-Elect of a general surgery subspecialty association.
Term of Office: The successful applicant will serve a two-year term as President-Elect (2027–2028) before subsequently becoming President of ASGBI for a further two-year term (2029–2030).
