Izza Nazir is currently working as a Colorectal Registrar at Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust. She completed her initial surgical training in Pakistan before continuing her surgical career in the UK, gaining valuable international experience in training systems and workforce development. She holds double fellowships in General Surgery and Colorectal Surgery, having recently completed an advanced colorectal fellowship in Birmingham. She is actively involved in research, quality improvement projects, and advancing standards in surgical training.
Throughout her career, Izza has been a dedicated advocate for colleague wellbeing, education, and mentorship. From her early training years, she played an active role in supporting fellow trainees and promoting a positive workplace culture, helping to foster collaborative and supportive working environments. In the UK, she has continued this commitment through leadership in education and mentorship, serving as Lead for Junior Doctor Teaching over the past two years and actively contributing to Junior Doctor Forum initiatives during her fellowship in Birmingham.
As Wellbeing Lead for Moynihan Academy, Izza is committed to promoting a supportive, inclusive, and sustainable culture within surgical training. She is passionate about creating initiatives that enhance wellbeing, resilience, mentorship, and work-life balance, ensuring trainees feel empowered to thrive both personally and professionally.
