Georgios Karagiannidis

Trauma Lead

Mr Georgios Karagiannidis is a General Surgery trainee and Clinical Research Fellow at Imperial College London, with a strong academic and clinical interest in trauma, emergency general surgery, and hepatopancreatobiliary surgery. He completed an MSc in Trauma Sciences at Queen Mary University of London and is currently undertaking a PhD within the Hanna Group, focusing on the development of a non-invasive breath test for cirrhosis monitoring and early detection of liver malignancy (VOCAL2).

He has an extensive portfolio of national and international presentations and peer-reviewed publications, with particular focus on trauma and emergency surgery. His work has been recognised with multiple national and international awards, including prize-winning presentations at major surgical conferences.

Alongside his academic work, he is actively involved in surgical education and leadership. He serves as Associate Surgical Specialty Lead (Pancreas) at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and has held leadership roles within ASiT, the Moynihan Academy, and trainee collaborative networks. He is a regular faculty member on national surgical training courses, supporting the development of medical students and junior trainees.
