I am Professor of Surgical Sciences at the University and Honorary Consultant HPB Surgeon at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. I have been in post for 11 years and have been on ASGBI Council since 2004. I served as Chairman of the Scientific Programme until 2008 and since then have been one of the two Scottish Regional Representatives. I am keen to use my background knowledge of ASGBI activities to provide a Scottish view on topics raised at Council and represent the region in whatever way I can.

Since 1986 I have been a Consultant General Surgeon in the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley. For 4 years I was the Regional Representative for South West Scotland on the Council of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.
In 2007, I was elected as one of two Scottish Representatives on the Council of ASGBI and hope to represent the views of surgeons in Scotland.
The West of Scotland Surgical Association meets twice yearly in the Spring and Autumn. The Spring meeting is usually held in a District General Hospital and the October meeting in the Glasgow College.
