Do you see yourself as a future leader in medical education? Someone who will adapt and shape the way we teach healthcare across the globe?
At the Centre for Medical Education at the University of Dundee we’ve been enabling medical educators to reach their goals and train healthcare professionals of the future for over 40 years. We deliver a wide-ranging programme aimed at those new to teaching and training and those who wish to advance their skills and knowledge in medical education, and we pride ourselves in the quality of our interactive and engaging courses.
Our Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education (for Surgeons) is designed for any surgeon who has an active interest or involvement in surgical training.
This course will enable you to analyse everyday teaching and learning opportunities and propose new, enhanced approaches to trainee development through extending your knowledge and skills as a surgical trainer.
Designed by surgeons for surgeons and endorsed by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh this specialist Certificate is composed of three 20-credit modules:
The first two modules establish core principles of teaching, learning and assessment. The surgical module includes the use of assessment in surgery, practical ways of teaching in the operating theatre, how you can use simulation to enhance training and how to give effective feedback.
Delivered through an online learning environment each module is 12 weeks long and modules start in January, May and September of each year.
