Abstract Submission

The closing date for Abstract Submissions has now passed.

We are delighted to announce that, as a new innovation this year, ALL abstracts for the Association’s 2012 International Surgical Congress (Moynihan Prize papers, short paper presentations, e-posters and poster presentations) are now available - one month ahead of the event in this section. Simply select the submenu links to the left to view.

Short Paper Presentations

There will be several sessions for short papers at the Congress. Please note that all accepted abstracts, whether for oral presentation or a poster, will be published online on the British Journal of Surgery website (citable). Abstracts accepted for oral presentation will in addition be published in the ASGBI Abstract Book.

Failure to present such an abstract, unless it is formally withdrawn at the time that acceptance is notified, will be taken seriously and the names of the authors published in the next edition of the Association’s Journal. If, due to unforeseen circumstances, an abstract is withdrawn nearer the congress, please notify the Laura Andrews – LauraAndrews@asgbi.org.uk  immediately.

All authors who have abstracts accepted for the Congress are encouraged to submit a manuscript to the British Journal of Surgery at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/bjs for consideration for publication in the Journal.

Poster Presentations

Poster adjudication will take place during the Congress. Adjudication will be carried out by members of the Scientific Committee and representatives of the Specialty Associations in General Surgery. A timetable for this will be published in the Congress Programme.

Those abstracts accepted as Posters of Distinction (the highest ranking posters as adjudicated by the Association’s Scientific Committee) will be presented orally as E-posters. E-posters will be available to view electronically throughout the meeting and following the meeting on the ASGBI website. All presenters will be sent detailed guidance notes in advance of the conference.
