Final Programme
The theme of the 2010 Congress is ‘The Challenges of Surgery’ and could not be more apt in the current economic and political environment. In addition to symposia dealing with clinical and scientific issues, many of the current political issues which are influencing all of our working lives will be debated and discussed. We will be revisiting ‘EWTR’, updating you on recertification and focusing on topics such as ‘The Provision of Effective Emergency Surgical Services in the UK and Ireland’.
There will be the usual major scientific sessions and a plenary Moynihan Prize short paper session, in addition to invited lectures from the UK, Australian and American Colleges. Symposia will include topics such as patient safety, screening, the medical management of the surgical patient, who should do laparoscopic surgery, surgical education, emergency and trauma surgery and the modern approaches to surgical training. The generic theme to the meeting will continue and there will be ample opportunity for informed debate and discussion.
