The Impact of EWTD on delivery of Surgical Services
      Friday 30th May 2008 (9.00am - 5.00pm)
A one-day meeting organised by the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland

Professor Horrocks

Welcome

The European Working Time Directive (EWTD) for a 48 hour week comes into effect in August 2009. Current data suggests that many Trusts are not compliant and General Surgery, in particular, has a major problem. This one-day Conference will highlight many of the problems and, hopefully, give guidance as to some of the solutions that can be applied.

The speakers all come with particular expertise and there will be plenty of time for interactive discussion. We hope to have an audience representing a wide spectrum of interests, including Surgical Managers, Medical Directors and lead clinicians, as well as representatives from the Surgical Royal Colleges, Specialty Associations and the Department of Health.

It is intended that a Consensus Statement will be produced shortly after the event, which will be widely disseminated. You are invited to register online and I look forward to meeting you on the day.
