Whether you referee for a journal (or wish to start doing so), write papers, conduct a journal club, examine in the intercollegiate boards or just wish to understand better the way that surgical papers are constructed and analysed, this course is a must. The workshop will cover critical analysis: the seven essential questions, as well as discussing an editor’s and referee’s responsibilities and how they differ, what an editor needs from a referee, probity, referee audit, confidentiality and anonymity and electronic interface with journals.
We are delighted to be able to offer this course, which is conducted by a veritable galaxy of the stars in surgical literature, to whom we are most grateful. Headed by John Murie, editor in chief of the BJS, the faculty comprises: Derek Alderson, Jonathon Earnshaw, Ronan O’Connell, Joar Svanvik and Huug Obertop, all of whom will be well known to you as editors of the BJS, one of the most prestigious medical journals in the world.
