Emergency General Surgery - a consensus statement
The ASGBI released a consensus statement in collaboration with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the Emergency Surgery Board and the National Acute Surgery Forum regarding the provision of emergency surgical services, and emphasising the importance of leadership, appropriate job planning and time for training in this vital area of acute surgical practice. As we continue on the journey of modernising training for and delivery of Emergency General Surgery, we need to evolve from a concept of providing “safe” acute surgical care to one of delivering “excellence” in unscheduled emergency general surgical practice.
